- (으)ㄴ지

 Indicates how much time has passed since some situation or action occurred and thus corresponds to 'sense' in English. It can be expressed in various ways, including -(으)ㄴ지. 되다. -(으)ㄴ지~ 넘다, and -(으)ㄴ지~ 안 되다. When the verb stem ends in a vowel or ㄹ,ㄴ 지 is used, and when it ends in a consonant, -은지 is used.

Example:

1. 저는 한국에 온 지 2년이 되었습니다.
    It's been two years since I came to Korea.


2. 담배 끊은 지 한 달 되었어요.
    It's been one month since I stopped smoking.

3. 컴퓨터 게임을 한 지 5시간이 넘었어요.
    It's been five hours since you started playing computer games.

4. 저는 결혼한 지 10년이 되었어요. 

    I have been married for 10 years.

5. 한국어를 배운 지 6년이 됐어요.

    It's been 6 years since I learned Korean.
