도록 [Intermediate Grammar]

 - 도록

→ It is added to the stem of a verb or an adjective indicating that it has reached a certain condition or a goal. If'ㄷ록' is used before the verb '하다', it means that the speaker has tried to reach the condition mentioned. If the following clause comes after '도록,' it means consciously 'a leading direction or a goal. If it is used after a word meaning the time, it means the limit of time as a form of '-(으)ㄹ 때까 지. It is used with an idiomatic expression meaning that the condition is intense, so the preceding involves exaggeration. 

Example: 

1. 내일 일찍 일어나야 하니까 일찍 자도록 합시다.
Since I have to get up early tomorrow morning, let's go to bed early.

2. 면접시험에서는 실수하지 않도록 하세요.
Make sure not to make any mistakes at the interview.

3. 이 책은 외국 사람들이 이해할 수 있도록 쉽게 설명해 놓았습니다.
This book explains easily so that foreigners can understand.

4. 사람들이 찾지 못하도록 꼭꼭 숨기세요.
Please hide it well so that people can't find it.

5. 밤이 새도록 이야기를 나누었습니다.
We talked to each other all night long.

6. 목이 아프도록 설명했는데도 내 말을 알아듣지 못하는 것 같았어요.
Even though I explained until my throat hurt, he didn't seem to understand what I said
